Description

Global Mapper is a powerful GIS and mapping application designed to make geospatial data easy to view, analyse, edit, process, and share. It provides a comprehensive set of tools for working with a wide range of 2D and 3D spatial data, making it suitable for professionals working in surveying, mapping, engineering, environmental management, construction, mining, forestry, utilities, and other geospatial applications.

Global Mapper supports an extensive range of raster, vector, elevation, point-cloud, terrain, and LiDAR data formats. Users can combine data from multiple sources within a single map, perform spatial analysis, create and edit features, generate terrain models, measure distances and areas, and produce detailed maps and visualisations.
The software is particularly well suited to terrain and elevation analysis. It can work with digital elevation models (DEMs), LiDAR and point-cloud data, contours, 3D terrain, and other elevation datasets. Advanced processing tools allow users to generate contours, calculate volumes, analyse slopes and watersheds, create terrain grids, and extract useful information from complex geospatial datasets.

Global Mapper also provides extensive data conversion and processing capabilities, allowing users to transform, reproject, crop, combine, and export geospatial data for use in other GIS, CAD, surveying, and engineering applications. Its support for common coordinate systems and projections makes it practical for projects involving data from multiple sources.

For users working with large or complex datasets, Global Mapper provides tools for efficient data management, batch processing, scripting, and automation. The application can therefore be used for both individual mapping tasks and repeatable professional workflows.
